The party's adventure continued after a three-month hiatus, with the GM recalling their previous progress through the dungeon of Jorgenfist. They had discovered a tunnel behind death webs leading to a kobold lair, fought through red caps, and cleared a dining hall of giants. Along the way, they met a friendly stone giant named Conna who offered guidance and showed them to a shrine, though someone was affected by a haunt there. The group had taken refuge in a wyvern cave above a river after General Galenmir escaped in gaseous form.
In a dramatic encounter, the party discovered two young red dragons, Econtredor and Sulaminga, chained with iron collars in a soot-blackened chamber. The dragons were under the influence of a charm monster spell and initially threatened to eat the party. Aberoth successfully cast break enchantment to free them from magical control, though not before the dragons breathed fire and caused significant damage to the group. Once freed, the dragons broke their chains and rampaged through the upper keep, destroying General Gamilar's reinforcements of eight stone giants and three dire bears.
The commotion attracted two lamia priestesses of Lamashtu, fearsome creatures with human female upper bodies and lion lower bodies. The lamias offered to mark the party with 'Sihedron marks' that would transform them into monsters after death. When the party refused, a fierce battle ensued where multiple party members fell unconscious. Through their combined efforts, they managed to kill one lamia while the other was permanently transformed into a turtle through a baleful polymorph spell.
After the battle, the party searched the lamias' chamber, discovering valuable silver and mithral incense burners worth 400 gold pieces and ritual sacrifice books worth 500 gold each hidden under an altar. They also found a scroll of remove curse. Conna helped them find a safe place to rest in the shrine, where the party took time to advance to level 13 and recover from their wounds.
The final encounter of the session involved two troll guards hiding behind fur-draped walls in a passage leading to Mokmurian's library. The trolls attacked through wall slits with ranseurs, but the party was prepared. Nava set a magical snare trap that caught one troll, while Aberoth used Blistering Invective to set them both on fire, countering their regeneration abilities. After defeating the trolls, they discovered valuable loot including a +1 ghost touch gauntlet and an air elemental gem. The passage ahead showed signs of transitioning from rough cave walls to finished stonework, indicating they were getting closer to their destination in the fortress depths.
